Berger
During his tenure, Tom has overseen the
debt-free growth of Cross Country from 20 clients to more
than 200, and has been instrumental in strengthening the
company’s infrastructure and core Direct Marketing
skills, while simultaneously developing new services and
diversifying into new business lines. In recent years,
this includes a strong push into the financial services
and unclaimed property sectors.
Tom has personally developed the vision and design specifications
for many of Cross Country’s systems. Tom is also
known for complementing the strengths of Cross Country’s
management team by assisting with the implementation of
special projects including large-scale custom database
initiatives.
Tom's experience with handling complex data files and
designing the Abandoned Property Escheat Assignment & Reporting
System (APEARS) gives him a unique perspective into the
operational side of managing unclaimed property initiatives.
Tom is serving his second term as Treasurer of the Unclaimed
Property Professionals Organization, received
the 2005 UPHLC President’s Award, and served 2003-2005
as Secretary of the Unclaimed Property Committee within
the Securities
Transfer Association for
which he has assisted in the creation of a white paper
intended to 'Educate the holder community about unclaimed
property review and reporting practices, and facilitate
the dissemination of information back to the states on
solutions that will promote uniformity and lead to more
timely and accurate reporting/compliance." Tom is
also a member or corporate affiliate of numerous organizations
including the
Direct
Marketing Association, Direct
Marketing Club of New York, National
Association of State Treasurers and he is a lifetime
member of MENSA,
the international High IQ society.
Tom holds a BS degree in Management and Marketing from
the Rochester Institute of Technology, and lives in Northport,
NY.
Michael Ryan
Michael
Ryan has over 20 years experience in the Stock Transfer
industry. His diverse background includes Unclaimed
Property, Shareholder Services, Conversions,
Sales, Tax Compliance, and New Business Opportunities within the stock
transfer sector. Mike’s passion and expertise lies in the Unclaimed Property
world, where his name is widely recognized across virtually all industries.
Mike served as President of the Unclaimed Property Holders Liaison Council
(since renamed the Unclaimed Property Professionals Organization) from
2003-2006, where he has overseen the growth of the organization from 40
to more than 225 corporate members, which has helped cement reputation
as the premier unclaimed property organization for networking and educational
seminars. Mike is currently serving as UPPO’s Immediate Past President.
Before joining Red Roar Tech, Mike was the Division Manager of Mellon Investor
Services’ Unclaimed Property Division. He ensured that Mellon’s clients maintained
compliance in the ever-changing world of unclaimed property and escheat law.
Mike managed the state dormancy, formats, due diligence, jurisdiction determination
and filing requirements for numerous organizations. He created and implemented
a sophisticated unclaimed property training module for Mellon customer service
representatives and handled all aspects on Initial and Annual Compliance, due
diligence, SEC Lost Shareholder searches, and shareholder inquiries. Prior
to Mellon, Mike was a Sales Manager for EquiSearch Services, where he was responsible
for promoting Lost Shareholder Services. While at EquiSearch, Mike fulfilled
a variety of roles, including developing an enhanced marketing module and materials.
Before joining EquiSearch, Mike spent 19 years at EquiServe (previously First
Chicago Trust and Morgan Shareholder Services) where he managed the Unclaimed
Property and Shareholder Services Divisions.
Mike has written numerous articles on Unclaimed Property trends and issues.
He has spoken on dozens of panels on behalf of the Stock Transfer Association,
National Association of
Unclaimed Property Administrators, National Association of State Treasurers,
UPHLC/UPPO, Sungard and others.
